Acceptable Use Policy

Version 2026-10-24. Everyone accepts this policy with the Terms of Service in Admin, and a store's owner confirms it again for the store before it opens Live.

This policy is part of the Terms of Service. It covers every store, account and API key on SBCommerce.net.

The two Platform rules

Everything below follows from two rules, which every account agrees to in the Platform rules:

  1. Everything must be legal, where you sell and where your buyers are.
  2. Everything must be honest: true descriptions and real prices, and no fake reviews, ratings, testimonials, awards or urgency.

When you aren't sure whether something is allowed, find out before you publish it. The lists below are examples, not the limit of either rule.

1. What you may not sell or publish

  • Anything illegal where you sell it or where your buyers are.
  • Firearms, ammunition, explosives, and parts made only for those. Kitchen knives, tools and cookware are allowed; following local knife laws is the owner's responsibility.
  • Illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, and prescription medicines without the required licence.
  • Counterfeit or pirated goods, or anything that infringes someone's copyright, trademark or other rights.
  • Sexual content involving minors, in any form; non-consensual intimate images.
  • Adult content: pornography, sexually explicit pictures, video, text or live shows, and sexual services. Lingerie, swimwear and other clothing shown in a non-explicit way are allowed. Sexual-wellness products (such as contraceptives, lubricants or devices) are reviewed case by case: ask us before you list them.
  • Content that promotes terrorism or violence, or attacks people for who they are.
  • Stolen goods, stolen data, or personal data you have no right to sell.
  • Schemes that deceive buyers: pyramid schemes, fake reviews, false health claims, "get rich quick" offers.
  • Goods your payment provider forbids. Their rules apply on top of ours.

2. What you may not do

  • Break into, probe or overload the Service or other stores; get around limits, security or another store's separation.
  • Send spam or unwanted bulk email through the Service.
  • Use the Service for phishing, malware, or impersonating another business.
  • Collect shoppers' data for anything other than serving them, or ignore their requests about their data.
  • Share an account between people. Invite staff instead; each person signs in as themselves.
  • Give a false country of residence or business address, or use someone else's account, to get around where we offer the Service or our sanctions checks.
  • Use the Service mainly as file storage or a file-delivery network, unrelated to selling, or go far beyond the fair-use limits below.
  • Resell the Service without our written agreement.

Fair-use limits

Admin measures these limits on its Usage page and, past a limit, pauses only the optional part, as described below. Each plan includes the following; downloads and emails are per calendar month (UTC) and start again on the 1st. They are meant to sit well above what a normal shop needs. During the private beta, while no plan is charged, every store has the Pro limits. How many products a store can list is a setting of its plan in Admin, not part of this policy. A store on the Custom plan has the limits agreed for it.

DemoStarterGrowthPro
Storage for photos and files1 GB10 GB50 GB200 GB
Downloads delivered (music, files, video)2 GB25 GB75 GB150 GB
Emails the shop sends (orders, bookings, messages, review invitations)5005,00020,00050,000

API requests are the same on every plan: 240 reads and 60 changes a minute for each shopper, and 600 a minute for each signed-in person or key. Showing shop pages and photos to visitors has no set limit; the photos themselves count toward storage. The API limits also cover an AI agent or app using your key. A GB here is 1,024 MB. Downloads are counted by the size of each file a buyer starts downloading.

Admin's Usage page shows each meter. We email the store's owners when one reaches 80% and again at 100%. Past 100%, only that part pauses until the 1st of the next month, or until the owner moves to a bigger plan:

  • Storage: new uploads pause until files are removed or the owner moves to a bigger plan; storage doesn't start again each month. Nothing already stored is deleted.
  • Downloads: buyers still download everything they bought. New download files and music uploads wait.
  • Emails: emails about orders, bookings, downloads, sign-in and messages always go. Review invitations, unpaid-order reminders and low-stock notices are not sent.

We never charge for going over. Nothing costs more than the plan the owner chose. We may set different limits for one store, for example to lift them while we look into a case.

3. Product reviews

Reviews on SBCommerce.net come only from buyers: someone with a paid order for the item, once it was delivered, the booking took place or the download was ready. The shop shows how its reviews are checked. You, your staff, and any person, app or AI agent working for you must not:

  • Write, buy, invent or generate reviews, ratings or testimonials, including with AI, or post them in someone else's name.
  • Hide, hold back or bury a review because it is negative. Being negative is never a reason. A review may be hidden only if it is abusive, shares personal details, is not about the item, is spam, is suspected to be fake or not from a customer (with a note saying why), or raises a legal issue such as defamation or copyright. Every hidden review is logged with its reason, and its writer is told.
  • Change what a buyer wrote. You may reply in public; a reply must not reveal the buyer's order or personal details.
  • Offer anything for a review unless the same is offered whatever the rating and is stated in your review settings, so each review shows it. Never offer anything for changing or removing a review.
  • Invite only some buyers. Invitations go to every eligible buyer or to nobody; never invite only buyers you expect to be happy.
  • Show reviews from elsewhere as if the platform had checked them, or mark up star ratings for search engines that don't come from real reviews on that page.

A buyer can change or delete their own review, and erasing a buyer's data deletes their reviews.

You can turn reviews off for the whole store at any time; the reviews are kept and come back when you turn them on. Turning them off or on to remove criticism of particular products may count as suppressing reviews.

4. Reporting a problem

Anyone can report a store they believe breaks the law or this policy, on our report form at www.sbcommerce.net/report. Every shop hosted by SBCommerce.net links it from the "Store software by SBCommerce.net" credit in its footer. Give the shop's address, the exact page or product, what kind of problem it is and why you believe it is illegal or breaks this policy, and confirm that you report in good faith. For a rights claim, such as a trademark, say what right you hold and what infringes it; we may ask you for proof. We ask for your name and email so we can send you a receipt, tell you what we decided, and ask you about your report; you may leave them out when reporting illegal content such as child sexual abuse material. Reports go to our review team, and a person reads each one. You can also write to abuse@sbcommerce.net.

Send copyright notices under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) to our designated agent, registered with the US Copyright Office as DMCA-1084070:

Stonebridge Digital LLC, Attn: DMCA Agent
4274 NW Canary Pl, Corvallis, OR 97330-2270, USA
Phone: 541-231-5680
Email: dmca@sbcommerce.net

We trade as SBCommerce.net, also written SBCommerce or SB Commerce; a notice under any of these names reaches the same agent. The same details, and what a notice must include, are at www.sbcommerce.net/dmca.

You can also use the report form and choose "Counterfeit goods or intellectual property". Say which work is yours and where the copy is, so we can reply.

What happens to a valid notice. When a notice has everything the DMCA asks for, we disable the product, page, file or shop it names, usually within one to two business days, and email the store owner what we disabled, why, and how to send a counter-notice. We send the person who sent the notice a receipt, and later what we did.

Counter-notices. If you own the store and believe the material was disabled by mistake or misidentification, send a counter-notice from Admin › Copyright notices. It needs your name, address, phone number and email, a statement under penalty of perjury, your consent to the court, and your signature. We send a copy to the person who sent the notice. Unless they tell us within 10 business days that they have gone to court, we restore the material 10 to 14 business days after we receive the counter-notice.

Repeat infringers. We keep count of the copyright notices we uphold against each owner. Three upheld notices within 12 months end the owner's account, and we take their stores offline. A notice that is withdrawn, found invalid, or answered by a counter-notice after which we restored the material does not count. We keep these records for three years.

5. What we do

When something breaks this policy, we may remove the content, take a shop offline, suspend the store, or end the account, depending on how serious it is. We tell the store owner what we did and why, and how to object, unless the law or the risk of harm prevents it. The email says what we restricted, the facts, how the matter came to us, which rule it breaks, and that a person made the decision.

Owners can ask us to review a decision through Support in Admin or at support@sbcommerce.net. Say why you think it is wrong and send anything that helps. We look at the decision again and reply with the outcome. This doesn't affect your right to go to court.

If a report suggests someone's life or safety is in danger, we tell the police.

6. AI features

These rules cover the Admin assistant, whether it runs on the platform's Anthropic key or on your store's own Anthropic key, and any AI app or agent you connect to your store. They add to the rest of this policy.

  • Anthropic's rules apply. The assistant uses models from Anthropic, so Anthropic's Usage Policy applies to everything you ask it. With your own key, your own agreement with Anthropic applies as well.
  • Nothing illegal or harmful. Don't use the AI features to make or publish content that is illegal, deceptive, hateful, harassing, sexual content involving minors, or that helps someone cause harm, such as weapons, malware or fraud.
  • No deception. Don't use them to impersonate a person, brand or business, to make fake reviews, ratings, testimonials or endorsements (see section 3), to invent product claims, certifications or awards, or to make misleading prices or urgency.
  • No spam or scraping. Don't use them to send unsolicited messages, or to collect personal data from other sites or people.
  • A person checks high-risk uses. If you use AI output for anything that affects people's health, money, legal rights, housing, jobs or safety, a qualified person must review it before it is used, and you must tell the people affected that AI was involved where the law or Anthropic's Usage Policy requires it.
  • Say when it's AI. If customers talk to an AI on your shop, or read content made by AI where the law requires it to be marked, tell them.
  • 18 or older. Only people 18 or older may use the Admin assistant.
  • Don't get around the limits. Don't try to get around the assistant's limits, safety rules or our usage caps, or share access to it outside your store.

What we do. If we see misuse, or someone reports it, we look into it. Depending on how serious it is, we may:

  1. Warn the store. Owners and admins see the warning in the assistant, and the owners get it by email.
  2. Suspend the assistant for the store. It stops working, on any key, until we reinstate it. The owners get the reason by email.
  3. Suspend the store or end the account, as in section 5, for serious or repeated misuse.

You can ask us to review a warning or suspension at support@sbcommerce.net, as in section 5. If misuse involves your own Anthropic key, Anthropic may also act on it under your agreement with them.
