Seller responsibilities

Version 2026-10-11. Store owners confirm this notice when they create a store and before it opens Live. It sums up section 3 of the Terms of Service in plain words. It is not legal or tax advice.

You are the seller

  • Every sale on your store is between you and your customer. You are the merchant and seller of record.
  • SBCommerce.net only provides the store software. Stonebridge Digital LLC doesn't sell, buy or own what you sell. It is not a marketplace, not your agent and not a payment collector.
  • Your store must show buyers your legal business name, a postal address and a way to contact you. Don't present SBCommerce.net as the seller. The credit "Store software by SBCommerce.net" is fine; "Sold by SBCommerce.net" is not.

Your money

  • Payments go straight to your own account with your payment provider (such as Stripe, PayPal or a bank gateway), under that provider's terms.
  • SBCommerce.net never receives, holds or pays out your sales money, and takes no cut of it.
  • If you choose a merchant of record, such as Creem, Dodo Payments or Paddle, that provider is the seller of record for the orders it takes, under its own terms. SBCommerce.net still isn't.

What you handle

You alone are responsible for, and should check with your own adviser:

  • Taxes. Whether and where you must register, and collecting, reporting and paying sales tax, VAT, GST, customs and duties: for example US state sales tax, the EU One-Stop Shop (OSS) and Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS), and UK VAT. Also your own income taxes.
  • Invoices and records the law asks of you.
  • Your customers' rights: cancellation and withdrawal, refunds, returns and warranties.
  • Your products: safety, labelling, licences and permits, and what may be sold where you sell it.
  • Shipping: customs paperwork, export rules and sanctions.
  • Your customers' data, under the law where you and they are.

Our tools are help, not advice

Tax settings, tax-inclusive prices and policy templates are there to help. We don't promise any rate, rule or text is right for you. Check them before you rely on them.

What an AI agent writes for you

You are responsible for reviewing all content an AI agent writes for your store before it goes live: policies, product descriptions, prices, pages and anything else. An agent's text is a draft. Neither the agent nor SBCommerce.net checks that it is accurate, complete or lawful for your business, and an agent will never tell you your store is legally compliant. Read it, correct it, and ask your own adviser where the law matters.

If something goes wrong

  • Claims from your customers or from tax and other authorities about your store and sales are yours to answer, and you cover our costs if they come to us (Terms of Service section 11).
  • We may limit or suspend a store that breaks the law or our terms, or when a court or authority lawfully asks. You agree to help with such lawful requests.
